IMPORTANT: For security reasons, any intercom-related action that involves the use of the microphone of the client computer can only be conducted with valid SSL certificate. (This restriction stems from the Chrome browser security regulations.)
Note
For optimal functionality of the intercom, it is recommended that LearningSpace is not used on multiple browsers and/ or tabs at the same time. 

Intercom announcements can be edited and new ones can be added on

the 

the Intercom tab of

the  module

 module. All previously recorded messages are listed and can be listened to by clicking the Play iconImage Modifiedn the Controls column.

  1. To add a new announcement, click the Add New button.
  2. In the editable New Audio Announcement field that appears, enter the announcement.
  3. When ready to record, click the REC Image Modifiedcontrol next to the new announcement.
    Once the recording is started, the REC control toggles to StopImage Modifiedcontrol.
  4. Say the message you wish to record into the microphone.
  5. When finished, click the Stop button. When the recording is stopped, the Stop control toggles to Play control.

NOTE: Once an announcement is recorded, the date of recording is displayed in the Date of recording column.


Tip
To edit
a
pre-recorded Intercom announcement, click the field to be edited, type in the modification, then click outside the field. To delete one, check the box of the announcement and click Delete.

You can only send audio announcements to workstations if the Intercom is connected to the workstations. 

To make sure the Intercom is connected to the authorized workstation(s):
When accessing the login page on a workstation, a window should appear saying the intercom client is connected, as shown below.

During events, live Intercom announcements can be sent  to Separate In-room Intercom devices and Separate Facilitator Intercom devices placed within the physical rooms of your institution and assigned to the rooms within your LearningSpace system (in the System module, Rooms tab), to give instructions to the learners or facilitators. 

Note

IMPORTANT: The Intercom functionality of CAE LearningSpace requires the web browser to have access to the microphone of the client PC, which in turn requires a secure HTTPS connection to the CAE LearningSpace server.

The Push-to-Talk function of Intercom is not supported on iPads in CAE LearningSpace.
