Adobe has announced the End of Life of its Flash Player solution. Below is the extract from its notification on this topic.

As previously announced in July 2017, Adobe will stop distributing and updating Flash Player after December 31, 2020 (“EOL Date”). (…) Adobe will be removing Flash Player download pages from its site and Flash-based content will be blocked from running in Adobe Flash Player after the EOL Date. (…) Adobe always recommends using the latest, supported, and up-to-date software. Customers should not use Flash Player after the EOL Date since it will not be supported by Adobe.” (https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/end-of-life.html)

What does this mean for you as a CAE LearningSpace user?

1. If you are a CAE LearningSpace Enterprise, Essentials, or Experience user:

Good news! As all three platforms are plug-in free, none of the functionalities of your system rely on Adobe Flash Player. They are all based on the latest HTML5 technology, Hence, you can continue to enjoy high-quality simulation management with your CAE LearningSpace system.

Limitations due to change: none

(info) Recommended action: As communicated earlier, kindly ensure all your users are accessing your CAE LearningSpace solution on a Google Chrome browser, which is best suited for HTML5 applications.

For all other CAE LearningSpace users, the End of Life of the Adobe Flash Player can affect three functionalities, depending on the version of CAE LearningSpace you are using:

2. You are a CAE LearningSpace Intuity user:

Your Video and Intercom functions are HTML5-based, and not Flash dependent. Hence, these functionalities are not affected by the change.

However, the Waveform functionality is not HTML5-based and is hence affected by the End of Life of the Adobe Flash Player.

(warning) Limitations due to change: Your users will be able to access the system using the Google Chrome browser, which is best suited for an HTML5 application. Video functions and Intercom will work as normal, but users  will not be able to see waveforms (ie. your Patient Simulator-related events will have limited functionalities)

(info) Recommended solution to have all functions available: As CAE LearningSpace Intuity users, you have some options to upgrade to our plug-in free and robust CAE LearningSpace Enterprise platform.
