Handoff

A handoff is the process of transferring information about a patient during transitions of care.

In case of SCE, transition corresponds to the start of the simulation when the learner is presented with the scenario. That is, a handoff provides detailed information that serves as a reference for the receiving provider (i.e. the learner).

History

A comprehensive account of the medical and psychological background of a patient, including allergies, medical history, code status, and relevant factors in the family and environment that may have influence on the patient's condition.

The medical history is essential in establishing a diagnosis and developing an adequate treatment plan.

Orders

A written prescription prepared by the learner regarding the exact treatment of the patient, including the diagnosis, admission orders, medicines to be administered, lab results to be obtained.

If applicable, the Orders tab may contain information divided according to the different states of the simulated experience.
