Normally relevant for Operations Specialists, this part contains all instructions and information necessary for physically setting up and then dismantling the simulation environment before and after the simulation event.

Example (taken from a PNCI) for instructions on the Preparation tab

It is important to moulage the simulator to enhance the fidelity or realism of the SCE. For this patient:

  • Dress the simulator in a hospital gown with identification band.
  • Place the simulator in a supine position.
  • Place an age-appropriate wig on the simulator.
  • Place a bra on simulator with breasts created from either rolled socks or individual breast exam models inserted into the bra cups.
(Size 44 fits the simulator best.)
  • Place eyeglasses on the patient.
  • Simulate wound drainage by using red food coloring diluted with water to desired shade and place on hip dressing.
Allow the mixture to dry before placing on simulator’s right hip.
  • Place a saline lock in the right arm.
