The System Manager provides tools and resources to manage your CAE LearningSpace system.

To access the System Manager, click the System tile on the Dashboard. From the System Manager screen, the following tabs are available to manage the CAE LearningSpace system:

  • General for managing general information and demo users
  • Local Settings for adjusting time and language options
  • Security for configuring secure access and server settings
  • Directory Access Settings for LDAP server setup
  • Emails for setting up email properties and SMTP server data
  • Intercom for managing pre-recorded or adding new intercom announcements
  • Rooms for managing rooms, including assignment of cameras, manikin, intercom devides
  • Simulators for connecting simulators and wireless bridges
  • Cameras for configuring and managing cameras
  • Downloads for selecting available downloads

General System Information

IMPORTANT: The master password gives full access to CAE LearningSpace; therefore it is recommended that discretion is used when assigning System Manager or, especially, Administrator privileges.

TIP: Scroll down if the checkboxes are not visible.

Demo User Management

Feature ensuring that no security gap occurs in the access to any LearningSpace installation. Demo users deployed with LearningSpace installations are disabled, that is, they are inactive and have no password by default.

User Experience

Demo users are indicated by “read-only” display, that is, a disabled checkbox appears on the Account tab of the user's Edit User pop-up.

IMPORTANT: Demo users cannot access their accounts until they are activated by a user with the appropriate privilege. The access can only be granted for one day (the day of activation).

Activating Demo Users

See LINK

Recording Deletion

Video recordings can be set to be deleted within a specific period of time using the Delete video recording(s) older than specified hereby (number of days) drop-down.

Recent Activity

Activities are considered recent based on the value specified on the General tab in the field at Display activities as recent with end date within the last … day(s).

EXAMPLE: If this value is set to 10, only those activities will be considered recent in which the end date is within the last 10 days.

NOTE: To have access to set this value, System Manager or Admin privilege is required.

Scheduling Time Threshold

Scheduling Time Threshold is the time - expressed in minutes - before and after events when they are already and still considered to be running, so learners and SPs can do data entry on "manually authorized workstations only" before and after the set times. This setting affects scheduling in general, that is, once set, it applies to each and every scheduled event.

EXAMPLE: If this setting is 30 minutes and an event is scheduled in the Calendar to start at 9:00 am and end at 10:00 am, SP and learner data entry will be allowed from 8:30 am till 10:30 am. For this period of time, the room(s) set for said event should not be assigned to any other event, as this might lead to data loss. In this specific example, the next event can be scheduled for 11:00 am - as the second event will be considered to be running from 10.30 am till 30 minutes after the end time of the event.

The Scheduling Time Threshold will not modify the start and end time of the event itself, but will "hold" the assigned rooms as occupied for the given amount of minutes before and the same amount of minutes after the start and end times of the events. If a 30-minute scheduling time threshold is set, there has to be a minimum of 60 minutes between events that are assigned to the same stations (30 minutes after a event plus 30 minutes before the next one).

NOTE: Data entry is only possible while the activity is running, regardless of the scheduling time threshold.

Local Settings

Default language defines the language for all users in a CAE LearningSpace system. However, if Multiple languages support is enabled, individual users can change the language for their user profile via the User account settings (top right corner).

The System time is the CAE LearningSpace server time, not the time of the workstation computer.

TIP: If your location is not listed, select a location that is in the same time zone and that shares the annual time changes.

Directory Access Settings

This tab is for defining server settings for LDAP configuration.

LDAP synchronization provides similar possibilities as the BUC function, insofar as it imports and synchronizes groups of users based on the data of the selected server. In case of invalid users or missing/ incorrect data, the system informs about the errors, and in the meantime, valid users can still be synchronized.

Servers set for login have two authentication modes:

Use full DN - searches for the user directly by the user's full distinguished name (optionally specified by prefix and/ or postfix)

Resolve sAMAccountName - authenticates the user through a specified query user (query user name, password and base can be determined), that is, no full DN has to be provided

NOTE: If LDAP authentication is enabled, it can be set independently for each user in his/ her Edit User pop-up window. In the Group Settings pop-up window, a dedicated tab has been added for LDAP synchronization settings.

Emails Settings

On the Emails tab, users can set the SMTP server information and the email properties.

NOTE: Upon initial login, CAE Healthcare recommends setting up the SMTP server information to enable the sending of emails from CAE LearningSpace. See a Network Administrator or IT professional for further assistance.

Pre-recorded Intercom Announcements

LearningSpace Essentials uses html5-based intercom.
Announcements can be recorded and thus added to the system on the Intercom tab.

Rooms

On the Rooms tab, rooms can be added, modified, or deleted. All the available rooms are listed, with their editable settings accessed by clicking the cogwheel in the Controls column. Camera and manikin assignment, and intercom device addition are all set within the Edit Room pop-up opened for individual rooms added to the system.

Simulators

The Simulators tab in the System Manager accesses information on connected simulators and wireless bridges used in a LearningSpace system. The tab displays the name (model), serial number, IP address and the status of each simulator, as well as SSID and the Controls.

NOTE: When using a wireless bridge, ensure that the appropriate hardware and software are available for the simulator to be recognized by the system. See an IT professional for more details.

IMPORTANT: Third-party simulation integration is also possible within LearningSpace, see LINK

System Cameras

The Cameras tab contains the list of available cameras.

The cogwheel in each row of a configured camera prompts the Camera Settings window to open, where PTZ settings, video size, quality, audio source and gain, and white balance can be adjusted for a specific camera.

Downloads

The available downloads are listed on the Downloads tab.

NOTE: For further assistance, see a Network Administrator, an IT Professional or contact CAE Customer Service.
