Once you finish registering your free Zoom account, you will be redirected to your profile where you can find your account number, personal meeting ID, account information and meeting capacity.
You can also view your subscription status at the User Type field on your profile:

When you sign up for free with your primary email address, you only have access to the Basic features of Zoom.
The Basic subscription does not:

  • support Zoom service integration into other applications
  • contain cloud recording
  • and restricts the duration of meetings to 40 minutes if there are more than 3 total participants at the meeting.

In order to use Zoom services within CAE LearningSpace after completing the API setup as described in the previous part, you need to upgrade your account and include as many hosts in your subscription plan as many virtual rooms you would like to configure in CAE LearningSpace.

  • Upgrade your account to Pro if you plan to configure 9 virtual rooms or less;
  • Upgrade your account to Business if you want to configure 10 or more virtual rooms.

Virtual room configuration in CAE LearningSpace is explained on the next page.

Upgrade Your Zoom Account:

  1. Click on Upgrade in the User Type field on your profile next to your current subscription status.
You will be redirected to the Current Plans tab inside Billing
  2. Click on Upgrade Account.

You will be redirected to the Plans & Pricing page.
  3. Choose one of the recommended plans by clicking Buy Now.
    1. Select Pro if you plan to configure 9 virtual rooms or less;
    2. Select Business if you want to configure 10 or more virtual rooms.
  4. Select the number of hosts you want to purchase.

Zoom automatically calculates the monthly and annual fees afterwards.

  5. Open Available Add-Ons and select Cloud Recording.

    Cloud Storage Purchase

In our setting, we use Zoom's cloud storage as temporary storage: OSCE virtual encounters are first stored in Zoom's storage—upon each meeting is ended—, then they will be downloaded to the Video Review module in CAE LearningSpace.

However—starting from Pro accounts—Zoom offers only 1 GB/host cloud storage which is not sufficient for storing the recordings of an entire OSCE event.

To accommodate the temporary recordings of (even) a day's worth of OSCE training/examination, purchase the extra 100 GB/month solution:

  6. After selecting the billing schedule and extra cloud storage, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Continue.
  7. On the Payment tab, provide the
    1. Billing Contact information

Beside basic details, the total employee count of your organization is required to continue.

    2. Payment Method, and
    3. Credit/debit card information.
  8. Once you are finished, click Upgrade Now. You will be presented with an Order Summary.
  9. Click Confirm to complete your purchase.
Zoom will confirm that your account has been upgraded successfully.

Following Account Upgrade

Important

After upgrading your account, Zoom automatically sets the Owner user—you—to "Licensed".
This will occupy one of the hosting licenses that you one of your virtual room should have instead.

Important

CAE LearningSpace refuses to create a new virtual room and its user account in Zoom once your account runs out of licenses.

Solution

Set your account type back to "Basic" to free up a hosting license that you can apply to a virtual room.

  1. Click on User Management in the sidebar next to your Zoom profile.
  2. Select Users
You will be presented with your owner account on the Users tab.

In the header of the tab, you can see the number of remaining licenses you can assign to virtual rooms (here, the number of remaining licenses is 8 out of the total of 9).

  3. Click on Edit in the row of your owner account.
    The user editor pop-up opens.
  4. In the User Type row, select the Basic radio button to switch your account to basic and free up a license for a virtual room.
  5. Click Save
Your owner account type has changed to "Basic".

In the header of the tab, the number of licenses you can apply increases by one (to 9 in our example).
