Your computer and your smartphone are not connected to the same network.

Even if your server computer uses a wired connection, make sure that the device is plugged into the same access point that your smartphone is connected to.

The smartphone application's version does not match the desktop application's version.

According to the software manufacturer, at least the first numbers of the smartphone and desktop versions should be the same, e.g the v3.0.0 smartphone version is compatible with the v3.2.0 desktop version.

First, add the Barcode to PC server executable to the firewall exceptions, and allow connection to ports 57891 TCP and 5353 UDP. Then, follow the steps in the firewall settings guide featured on Barcode to PC's website.

According to Barcode to PC's FAQ, allowing connection to port 5353 UDP is not essential. If you do not accept connections on this port, you need to add the server manually to the smartphone.
