Timeslots are smallest time units within an event
during which one encounter is completed between an SP (or manikin) and one (or more) learner(s). Consecutive timeslots add up to rounds, that is, a timeslot : during a timeslot, one or more assigned learners need to compelte one case with the help of an SP or a simulator.
Rounds
Rounds are the time periods that learners can sign up to complete within them the case(s) assigned to the activity.
Timeslots can only be created within rounds: a single timeslot can equal a valid round, but a round can contain multiple timeslots as well.
Rounds are only valid if
A valid round consists of consecutive timeslots of which the first timeslot
and the last timeslot and the last timeslot "ends the round".
A round is a period of time for which a specific learner should sign up and during which that learner completes each case assigned to the activity. Rounds are made up of consecutive timeslots without any time gaps - except for the "Time after" property which allows for any transitional action between two timeslots. These conditions can be established by checking the relevant boxes when setting up timeslots within an Event Setup. The timeslots included in a round can be regular student encounter timeslots or special timeslots (for example, debriefing or lunch break). A valid round must contain at least one student encounter timeslot.
Note |
---|
To create a round, you need to:
- Define the number of timeslots in the # of timeslots to create field.
- In the Length field, determine the lenght of each time slot in minutes.
- In the Time after field, you can define in minutes a brief transitional period after each timeslot.
- Click the Create All Timeslots button.
Your new round will be created with the starting and ending timeslot automatically marked.
A round can contain regular timeslots used for completing a case, or special timeslots that can be used for debriefing or taking breaks.

If you want your learners |
IMPORTANT: A learner has to complete each case of the activity within a round, |
consequently, student encounter timeslots has to timeslots in a round should be equal to or the multiple of the number of |
assigned casescases. Creating the correct number of timeslots within a round ensures that each learner assigned to the round can rotate and participate in each case. If |
the a round setup is not valid, an error message |
displays appears at the top of the scheduling page and changes |
cannot Timeslot Structure Template
A template that can be created for timeslots, allowing for automatic start and stop of recording, or intercom announcement. The structure is set up in relation to the start of a timeslot, by determining how many seconds/ minutes after the start of the timeslot should a certain system-generated action occur.
Info |
---|
The timeslot structure template can be created |
via on the Timeslot Structure Templates |
link below the Add New Event button on the Event Setup page. Note |
NOTE: Once page that can be accessed with the Timeslot Structure Templates link located on the Activity Scheduler under the Event Setup tab. |
Scenario recordings can be automatically controlled with a timeslot structure template. A timeslot structure template can take care of starting and stopping video recordings and can send out intercom announcement to the designated workstations or intercom endpoints.
There are four timeslot structure actions to choose from:
- Start Video
- Stop Video
- Send Audio to Hallway
- Send Audio to In-room
Note |
---|
|
If a "Send audio..." option is selected, an additional menu |
is displayed allowing for the selection of the specific announcement. Announcements are appears where you can choose from preset audio announcements. Audio announcements can be recorded in the Intercom tab of the System module. |
Each timeslot structure action needs to be set up
on the Intercom tab of the System module. Warning |

in relation to the start time of a timeslot: you need to determine how many minutes and seconds should an action be carried out after the start of a new timeslot.

IMPORTANT: As all system-generated actions are set up in relation to the start time of the timeslot, |
it is crucial that the last such action should never exceed the but their timing cannot exeed the length of the timeslot itself. |

The last action should occur at least one second before the end of the timeslot. If the length of a timeslot structure template is exactly the same as the timeslot's leght that it was applied to, the system will warn you about the invalid settings and won't save the actions: Image Added |

Such a structure template cannot be used for a timeslot shorter than 10 minutes 30 seconds!
