The tab lists all restrictions through which access features of an activity can be further limited, customized.

By ticking a checkbox at a particular option, it becomes valid for the activity.


The following table explains what each option entails:

Enabled Restriction

Disable learner data entry

Learners (members of the Learner group assigned on the Participants tab) will have no access to complete questionnaires for the activity.

NOTE: If this option is checked, thus data entry is disabled for the learners, the activity will remain listed on their dashboard, but the Data Entry button will not be available.

The option can be withdrawn at any point and time, allowing for learner access to data entry.

TIP: Such a setup may be applicable when an activity is intended to be used for SPs to complete a training.

Data entry only allowed from

This option limits the computer stations from which data entry can be performed.

NOTE: CAE Healthcare recommends obtaining the assistance of your network administrator or IT professional before using this option.


There are two options:

  • IP addresses starting with - When this is chosen, only computers with IP addresses beginning with the specified numbers can act as data entry clients for the activity.
  • hostnames ending in - When this option is selected, only computers with registered host names can act as data entry clients for the activity.

NOTE: At most institutions, not all machines have a valid host name registration, but all have a unique IP address, usually starting with the same two numbers for the entire organization.

Data entry only allowed from manually authorized workstation

When this option is enabled, only computers that have been manually authorized for this activity and one or all of its cases can be used to complete questionnaires for the activity.

NOTE: Workstations are manually authorized in the System module, by registering them as desired stations on the Stations tab, then adding them to the room to which the specific activity is assigned on the Rooms tab.

Data entry only allowed for scheduled SPs (if assigned)

When this option is chosen, only SPs who are scheduled for a particular case can enter data for that case.
NOTE: If an SP is scheduled for a specific case, that SP will not be able to see the rest of the cases assigned to the activity.

Allow access of other activity from stations assigned to this activity

Selecting this option allows computer stations assigned to this activity to access other activities.

Log out users after Post-Encounter Submit

When this option is chosen, learners are automatically logged out of LearningSpace after submitting a Post-Encounter questionnaire.

Log out users after Pre-Encounter Submit

When this option is chosen, learners are automatically logged out of LearningSpace after submitting a Pre-Encounter questionnaire.

Multiple independent SP & FON submissions allowed

Choosing this option allows more than one SP to complete the same questionnaire for the same student and more than one faculty member to review an encounter.

NOTE: When this option is checked, in case of multiple submissions for one specific learner, the score for a particular questionnaire is going to be the average of the scores given by the different faculty.

Allow Post-Encounter access only after student encounter

When this option is chosen, learners can only access the Post-Encounter Learner Part if one of the following three conditions is met at the moment of selecting a case:

  • for the given Activity/Case/Learner combination, the learner has an SP submit
  • for the given Activity/Case/Learner combination, the learner has a FON submit
  • for the given Activity/Case/Learner combination, the learner's recording is either completed, or is in processing status (i.e. the video must be stopped when the learner selects the case).

Allow SP part access only after Pre-Encounter submit

When this option is chosen, SPs can only access the SP Part after the learner has submitted the Pre-Encounter Learner Part.

CAE LearningSpace® is available with Restricted Browser only

When this option is chosen, participants can only access the activity from a LearningSpace Restricted Browser.

Display current score in FON data entry

When this option is chosen, score will be displayed and continuously updated during FON data entry.

Jump to classic FON data entry page from the Your Activities table

When this option is chosen, clicking the FON Data Entry link of a specific activity in the Your Activities table on the Dashboard will navigate to the classic view of FON data entry (recommended when there is no video recording for the activity/ case/ learner).
