Besides miscellaneous programming modifications, the most important features and enhancements of the NextGen Room View (formerly Single Room View) included in the 2022 Fall Release are the following:

New Learner and SP selector in the Recording Setup

A revamped Learner and SP selector user interface in the Recording Setup has been introduced for better usability:

  • Case selector only becomes active once Activity has been selected.
  • Learners- and SPs dropdowns get active, once the respective Groups have already been selected.

(warning) Learner and SP groups can be added to a recording without Activity or Case selected.

Under 'Recording on', the selected cameras for recording are room specific - not user-specific.

Selected participants show up as 'disabled' (greyed out) in the Learners/SPs dropdowns.

Participants who have not been selected are active in the dropdown and thus can be selected.

New Learner name display under Annotations

Learner-name display has changed under the Annotations tab:

By default, all the Learners of the assigned group are added to an annotation, displayed in blue. Members can be deselected by clicking their names (disabling them).

(lightbulb) All Learners can be selected/deselected by the All Learners toggle.

For more information, go to the Annotations tab subpage of the Single Room View help site page.

New Intercom Panel Setup and Functioning

A revamped Intercom widget has been introduced for better usability, with

  • new button-types in the Intercom panel
  • and a new way of functioning:
    • Intercom announcements can be sent to the simulator's head ("Voice of Patient"), by selecting the Simulator button turning it into blue  and pushing the Push-to-Talk button in the Intercom area.

If there is no valid Intercom destination available in the system, the Push-to-talk button is displayed in orange color and a warning message shows at the top of the page.

For more information, go to the Three-Way Intercom  subpage of the Single Room View help site page.

Mute videos while talking

During live announcements (using the Push-to-Talk function) all other camera speakers in the room can be muted by deactivating the Speaker icon.

New Recording Information widget during Live Recording

A new Recording Information widget has been introduced at the bottom panel of the live SRV, displaying the following information related to the recording:

  1. Activity

  2. Case

  3. SP

  4. Learners

The information is displayed based on the Recording setup settings or the Scheduling.

By default, Activity, Case and SPs assigned to the recording are presented, under . The assigned Learners' names can be viewed by changing to the icon.

Different ways of setting up a Recording

A recording can be started with

  • no Activity and/or Case selected.
  • Recording setup loaded from the last saved state,
  • Recording setup loaded from RNSA,
  • by loading setup from Advanced Scheduling.

In case the recording was automatically started by a scheduled event, data in the Recording setup is displayed based on the scheduled settings (related to the current timeslot) and the following message is displayed: "Recordings have been started by Scheduling with the following settings". These settings cannot be modified during the recording.

After a scheduled event, the Recording setup needs to be cleared/updated by the users manually.

Room selection during Live recording

You can change between rooms with the help of the Room selector dropdown even during live recording:

Improvements to the More details pop-up in Video Review

Improvements have been introduced to the More details pop-up for the Information widget at Video Review as well.

Improvements to the Mute/Unmute functionality during Live Recording

The most important changes for the mute/unmute functionality in the NextGen Room view include the following:

  • General rule: the system only unmutes a camera when the user clicks on the unmute button OR if the user enters the Single Room View (live or review).

  • 3-state click functionality for mute/unmute:
    1. First click:  unmutes the given camera stream and other unmuted streams stay unmuted too.
The icon on all unmuted streams changes to an icon showing that multiple streams are unmuted.

    2. Second click:  mutes all other cameras (even the unmuted ones) and only the selected camera stream stays unmuted.

    3. Third click: mutes the selected camera stream as well.

Toggle Panel Width and Height

The ability to collapse the panels on the right and at the bottom has also been introduced to the NextGen Room View (SRV) both in Live view and in Video Review mode.

With this functionality (toggle panel width/height) the bottom- and side panels can be minimized in order to maximize the displayed camera- or media view.

The toggle reveals itself by hovering over the bottom- or side panel, or on the panel border lines. When activated (i.e. camera view is maximized), the toggle arrows are displayed constantly.
