The SP Training part serves as a practice for SPs, assessing other SPs' performance. It provides means for analyzing and measuring how Standardized patients perform compared to other (more experienced) SPs.
Data collected within this part is evaluated in the SP Training Review report.

Filled out by: less experienced SPs

Purpose: training Standardized Patients

See How to Build an SP Training for detailed description on each section.

The SP Training Part includes the following three different types of sections:

  1. Materials section - to provide background and introductory information related to a case; can include both textual information and multimedia files.
  2. Practice section - to specify a learner encounter for the user to watch and complete an SP questionnaire for.
  3. Evaluation section - to specify which questionnaire of the Practice section is used to generate the agreement score.

The video recording of the Case encounter is displayed for the user either before or at the same time as the SP questionnaire.

The agreement score is calculated by comparing the answers the user gives to a questionnaire in a Practice section with the answers given by an SP to the same questionnaire in a regular (non-training) SP Part.

No Evaluation section is needed if the SP trainees only have to watch the video recording and complete the checklist. The SP manager can then review the results in the SP Training Report.
However, if you want to let the SP trainee see the agreement scores after they submit the checklist, the training Evaluation section must be included.

Criteria of building an SP Training Part

  • The Practice and Evaluation sections are necessary in an SP Training, while the Materials section is optional.

  • Strict order: as The Evaluation section is for selecting the Practice section to be used for evaluation, the Practice section must be set up before an Evaluation section. The Materials section can be created at any time.

  • To use an Activity for SP training, the Activity has to contain the Case in which the SP Training Part is created.

  • Before the SP Training Part can be accessed by users, there has to be an SP submission for the SP Part of the Case, and there has to be a video recording assigned to a learner for the Case.

SP Training is only available when the Activity is upcoming or running:

  • Upcoming activity - normal SP Data Entry is not available, hence the SP Training will be accessible and displayed under Current Activities in the Your Activities panel.
  • Running activity - SP Training access can be controlled via the 'Data entry only allowed from manually authorized workstations' setting in the Activities module:
    • When an SP logs in from an unauthorized computer, they will be able to access the SP Training and not the SP Data Entry.
    • When an SP logs in from an authorized computer, they will be able to access the SP Data Entry.
