The System icon on the Dashboard navigates to the General tab of the System Manager

Important - Autosave in System

Settings are auto-saved in the System module after switching to any other tab or returning to the Dashboard

The General tab contains setting options that are necessary for the system to function properly and further settings that you can apply according to your preference.

Tip

Scroll in case some checkboxes are not visible.

Recommended settings

Fill out the Institution name field to customize your CAE LearningSpace login page.

Enter a Master password if you would like to appoint certain users with full access to the profiles of every user registered in your system. For instance, if any user gets blocked from the system for failed password attempts.

Important

Excercise discretion when sharing the master password and delegating users to have access to every account registered in your system.

Optional settings

Demo Users

The Demo Users function is for educational purposes—to help demonstrate the functionalities of the system during trainings.
For more details, go to How to Activate Demo Users in the System.

Video Warning Message

By filling out the Video warning message field and selecting the Show this when learners open video review for the first time checkbox, you can set up a warning or message that will pop up in the Video Review page from the browser address bar when a learner opens a new recording for the first time—either for peer or self-evaluation.

Use the Video warning message field e.g. to provide information to your learners about how your institution is using the video recordings the learners or their peers are featured on.
Select the Show this when learners open video review for the first time checkbox to save and enable the Video warning message pop-up.

The Video warning message only pops up if the checkbox is selected.

The pop-up only appears once when the recording is opened for the first time.

System Storage Details

The Show System Storage Details button opens a window where you can find details about your storage usage:

  • You can check the serial number of your CAE LearningSpace system here.
(info) In case you have several CAE LearningSpace system integrated into one system (with the help of one or more CAE LearningSpace Connect Servers) the serail number(s) of each hardware configuration are listed separately.
  • The status of internal and video storage health is displayed so you can check the condition of the hard discs.
  • The total storage space is displayed along with the free space for videos on each of your configuration.

Annotation Settings

You can save preset annotations with the Annotation Settings option. Your faculty and staff will access the annotations that were set up here when they are annotating live or saved video recordings.
The annotations created here can also be assigned to particular cases with the help of the Preset annotations tab within each case.

Activity Types

Activity types are categories that you can apply—define for an entire activity in the Basics tab— to mark every activity related event with the selected type and color.

Here, by clicking Activity types, you can access the default and custom activity types, create new ones or delete the custom types.

Use the field at the bottom of the pop-up and the +Add button to create a new activity type.
The system automatically defines a color-code when creating a new type. The color of the activity type will mark every activity related event blocked off in the Calendar.

Default types are marked with a lock and cannot be deleted from the system.
Custom types that were created here or in the Basics tab of an activity can be deleted, but only here.

Forgotten password message for LDAP users

If you log in your users to CAE LearningSpace with LDAP authentication, you can use this field to inform users what to do in case they forgot their password.

Specify the time of certain actions relative to the following conditions:

  • Determine after how many days should saved recordings be automatically deleted from the system.
The automatic deletion schedule does not apply to locked videos.
  • Define the number of days an activity countr as a Recent activity
The Recent activity filter can be applied in Advanced Scheduling and Resources.
  • Set up in how many days should your users change their passwords.
Your users will receive a password change request once a period expires.
  • Define how many minutes can you create a new event before and after a new event.
Find out more about scheduling time threshold at this page.
