As an SP user, you can apply Privacy Mode inside the room where you are performing your current scenario from the room's authorized In-room station. You can access Privacy Mode in your user profile where you can switch off and on the camera feeds any time you require privacy: when changing into hospital gowns, or in case of other sensitive situations that occur as part of a physical examination—regardless of the status of recording in the room.

Manage Your Privacy in the Exam Room

Enable or disable Privacy Mode by clicking on the icon located in the top right corner of the screen under your username:

Important

Privacy Mode is only available if the computer you are logging into is added to the exam room as anIn-room station in CAE LearningSpace. If in doubt, consult your instructor or system administrator to make sure your workstation is set up properly.

When you enable Privacy Mode, the camera feeds of the room are disabled:

Mute Audio

When switching on Privacy Mode, default audio settings—set up by the system administrator inside the General tab in System—are applied. Privacy Mode can be set up to automatically mute the room when applied. If you want to change the default audio setting applied for Privacy Mode, contact your instructor or system administrator to change.

Privacy Mode is available with or without any activity assigned to the room as long as an In-room station is added to the room in CAE LearningSpace: you can take control of the room's camera feeds even if you are not added to the activity as a participant currently featured in the room.

Troubleshooting

The In-room station gets disconnected.

*add the computer again manually as a station and add it to the room

Cameras can disappear.

Warning

In an environment e.g., with no static IP reservation, the IPs of devices can change. Meanwhile, the IP addresses of devices featured on the Stations tab are not dynamically updated, which means you would have to add each computer or tablet again to the system—as shown below on this page.

Cookie-Based Station Authorization

In case the IP addresses of your devices are not static,  select "Enable cookie-based station authorization" on the General tab in System ManagerThis way the system will identify stations by placing a software "cookie" into the browser instead of checking the IP addresses of the devices.

Prerequisites:

The in-room station has to be added to a room → Privacy Mode option is only available when the in-room station is added to a room with a working camera. Otherwise, the feature does not become active in the SPs account.

SP needs to log into the in-room station of the room → the SP can access the Privacy Mode setting right away on their Dashboard. No need to open a checklist to set the option.
